Transferring Employees with L-1 Visas

The L-1 visa is designed for multinational companies to transfer executives, managers, or specialized employees to their U.S. offices. To qualify, the employee must have worked for the company abroad for at least one continuous year within the last three years.

There are two types of L-1 visas: L-1A for managers and executives, and L-1B for employees with specialized knowledge. The application process requires the employer to file Form I-129 with USCIS, along with supporting documentation that demonstrates the employee's qualifications and the company's eligibility.

Understanding the requirements and preparing a thorough application can streamline the process and help ensure a successful transfer of key personnel to the U.S.
