Isabela Alves McCarthy is a U.S.– and Brazil-trained attorney whose practice focuses on U.S. immigration law and New York family law. She earned her LL.B. from Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM) in Brazil, followed by a postgraduate degree in International Relations from IBMEC, where she developed a strong foundation in global policy, cross-border systems, and international affairs.

She later obtained her LL.M. from Boston College Law School, expanding her legal training within the U.S. legal system. After graduation, she remained at Boston College Law School as a Visiting Scholar, continuing her academic engagement and deepening her understanding of comparative and transnational legal frameworks.

Following her academic work in the United States, Isabela transitioned into private practice and began working in immigration law. Since then, she has represented individuals and families navigating complex legal processes, including family-based petitions, employment-based visas, adjustment of status applications, removal defense and New York matrimonial matters.

Her international academic background and cross-border perspective uniquely position her to understand not only the legal structure of immigration and family law, but also the human realities behind them. She approaches every case with strategy, precision, and respect for the life transitions her clients are experiencing.
